But if we fail to coordinate our policies, there is a risk that it could run contrary to competitiveness—and ultimately be delayed or even rejected,” stated Mario Draghi when presenting his report on the Future of European Competitiveness in September 2024.

HealthTech Ireland and members are committed to supporting Irish healthcare meet targets, particularly through co-ordinated outputs of both the sustainability and procurement working streams of the National Health Collaboration Council.

In commemoration of World Environment Day, MedTech Europe of which HealthTech Ireland is a member representing HealthTech products, solutions and services in Ireland, is delighted to announce today’s publication of its attached report “Decarbonising Healthcare: How A Competitive Medtech Industry Can Contribute.”

This document in the short-term provides targeted, sector-specific recommendations on how members and the wider community of health and medtech companies can navigate their own debarbonisation journeys, including guidance on how companies can support healthcare ecosystems in their own growing efforts to decarbonise. In the longer-term it will contribute concretely to the environmental and sustainability transition in healthcare.
